| DEFENSORES DEL MEDIO AMBIENTE DE LOS TUXTLAS, A. C. ecological activism THE GREAT CROCODILE HUNT OF '06 |
| March 4, 2006 Not with assault rifles and elephant guns, but with cameras. Unfortunately no crocs were to be seen due to an unexpected northern which rendered the estuary lair of our prey inaccessible, and also prevented us from visiting several little known archaeological sites on the Lake Catemaco shoreline. However a horseback ride into the countryside surrounding Las Margaritas provided beautiful scenery and a visit to the remnants of an ancient ball court - presumably Olmec. A little more than $ 3,700 pesos passed into the hands of the various kind and helpful boatman, guides, horse owners, and the gracious folks at the eco-palapa in Las Margaritas where we dined.
